Lore:
Cam and Abe were brothers who usually got along, but not when it came to their new teddy bear. One afternoon, their mom brought home the toy, and both boys immediately wanted it.
“It’s mine!” Cam insisted, grabbing it first.
“No, we should share it!” Abe argued, trying to take it back.
The argument quickly spiraled. As they tugged on the bear, neither willing to give in, there was a sudden, horrible rip. The teddy’s head came off, leaving its body limp in Cam’s hands and the head in Abe’s.
Both boys froze, staring at the decapitated bear. Abe’s eyes filled with tears, and Cam felt a pang of guilt. They had both been so caught up in winning that they hadn’t noticed they were destroying what they both loved.
“I’m sorry,” Cam said quietly, handing the head back to Abe.
“Me too,” Abe replied, his voice shaky.
Together, they carried the teddy bear’s pieces to their mom, who helped them sew the head back on. The stitches were a bit crooked, but the bear was whole again. After that, they took turns with it, realizing that sharing was better than tearing apart something they both cherished.
